This doesn’t really need a picture because I’m not gonna be on it long, but I find it cool that for the Forsaken Fortress track, they mixed an electronic drum set with an acoustic one and were like ‘yeah, that works!’ and just smacked them all together in a bunch of layers and called it a day. Hook, line, sinker, were all suckers for this track.

Other than that, this track is pretty basic. Those big drums in the beginning? Drum kicks!(or those big drums that stand up, don’t remember the name) Now, I’m obviously exaggerating on this track, but you’ll see what I mean later. This track is the one that really sets this trend in the game, though. Here? It’s used as if they were forced to! Almost every track in this game has a stupid drum kick riff just slammed in and it’s weird! Wanna know why it’s weird? Because it works! Some way! Some how! This genius of a man decided that he was going to make a drum riff work or his name wasn’t Koji Kondo. Drum kicks are those really bassy drums that ‘be hitting different’ when it comes to those large boss battles or suspensive moments. Jevus Criminy, Koji Kondo must have been going through a drum kick phase because this stupid drum is in almost every track, obnoxiously so.

Outset isn’t super interesting, but I thought it was neat. This is music theory, going into psych theory, so I’m gonna pull it back by going into the next track. You know to pay attention to things like back, but your brain knows that it’s use to that feel so it sub consciously turns those feelers on. It’s all sub-conscious thought when you hear it, too! It’s ingrained in your mind to feel that when hearing something like that which is most likely why Outset is such a lovable track. As if the track wasn’t recorded by a big name orchestra. This is usually given to music tracks to give it more and homey feel. With a good set of headphones, you can hear it with a couple of replays at the very beginning before the music actually starts. In the HD version, you can actually hear it so much better. It sounds so much like a grain filter, but honestly, it’s SO faint that it’s REALLY hard to tell. It actually has a very subtle filter on it that makes it a bit more of a island feel to it. Alright, so Outset is one of the few tracks on this OST that are NOT raw.
